Vape Coil Resistance and Wattage Guide: Ohms Made Simple
Every coil has a resistance in ohms and a recommended wattage range printed on the box. Matching the two is the easiest way to get good flavor and avoid burnt hits.
The Simple Rule
- Lower ohms (under 0.5) need more watts, give a looser direct-to-lung draw and more vapor. Pair with freebase e-liquid.
- Higher ohms (0.8 and up) need fewer watts, give a tighter mouth-to-lung draw and suit salt e-liquid.
- Always stay inside the wattage range printed on the coil or box.

Use the range printed on that coil. For example, the VooPoo PnP VM6 (0.15 ohm) is rated 60–80W, and the FreeMax 904L M1 (0.15 ohm) is rated 40–70W.
Is a higher or lower ohm coil better?
Neither is better overall. Lower ohms give more vapor at higher watts. Higher ohms give a tighter draw at low watts and suit salt e-liquid.
Do VooPoo PnP coils fit PnP X devices?
No. Newer PnP X devices use PnP-X coils.
How many coils come in a pack?
